Champion Of Champions
The Champion of Champions trophy is awarded to the Open finalist whose time is the best when compared to the existing championship record. It was donated by long-term indoor rowing supporters Harry and Jessie Welsh. Over 150 years old, the trophy was made by Jessie's grandfather, a master silversmith from Birmingham.
Last year’s winner was Graham Benton. Graham’s victory in the Men’s Open Hwt came in a new Championship record time of 5:42.5, breaking the legendary Matthias Siejkowski’s long standing time of 5:44.3 (set in 1999).

Graham Benton has dominated the Open category for several years now and BIRC 2008 saw Graham Benton win the Champion of Champions cup for the third year running and the fourth time in total.
