New World Record Categories

Nov 18, 2016

In response to increased participation in our World Records and the expansion of our equipment offerings, Concept2 is introducing several new world record categories. Today, we are announcing world records for pieces done using Slides and a limited number of categories for pieces done using the Dynamic Indoor Rower. We will, of course, continue to maintain “static” indoor rower records. The number of SkiErg World Record categories was also expanded in July; categories for 100m, 6000m, 1 minute, 30 minutes and 60 minutes have been added.

These newly added World Record categories allow for better apples-to-apples comparisons, something that has been requested from the rowing community. New categories allow us to compare world best times across different machines.

Little has changed in the top echelons of the sport: Rob Waddell’s 2008 record of 5:36.6 at the 2k distance still stands, along with Olena Buryak’s 6:25.0 world record 2k in 2015.

Individual record requirements can be found at Individual Record Requirements.

For fast athletes in their age groups, 2017 will be an exciting year to jump in and grab a new World Record!
