Venue Race software

During the course you all worked on the venue race software. This is a free piece of software you can download from our website and install onto your computer. Go to this page and click on the download button http://www.concept2.co.uk/software/venue_racing.php
Log card software

In your resource packs you will find a Log card. These slot into the monitor and each workout is recorded onto it (you can record workouts of up to 5 users). You can take the information from the card and transfer to an Excel document. To do this you need to connect the computer to a monitor via a USB cable, and then use the free Log card utility software you can download from our site here http://www.concept2.co.uk/software/logcard.php
PMI – Max Power Test

You can download the PMI (Performance Monitor Interface) which ran the Max Power test on the days. To do so, go to this page www.concept2.co.uk/software/pmi.php, fill in the form and press the download button. You will need a USB cable to connect the computer to the monitor. The software is free, and Simon Larkin is the best man to contact about the PMI simonl@concept2.co.uk or 07768 152917.
Schools Indoor Rowing League 08/09

The Schools League is a free online inter-school competition. There are monthly challenges for teams to complete in relay teams of either 4 or 8 on one machine. You can see how your teams did against their peers across the country or in their own group of schools, last year over 27000 participated. For a report on last year click here http://www.concept2.co.uk/league/report.php or to explore the league click here http://www.concept2.co.uk/league.
Nottingham City rowing league presentation
The Nottingham Teachers’ presentation can be found here. It details how long each year group competes for, how schools qualify for the finals night and how Nottingham Schools have set up their competition structure. To download it click here
IRGolf course documents
The documents used by the Nottingham Teachers to play the IRGolf (Indoor Rower Golf) game in the morning and lunchtime sessions can be downloaded here. Please feel free to use these or create your own round of golf for your groups.
ARA (National Governing Body) framework, compatibility with C2
The times and distance that are raced at British Indoor Rowing Championships (BIRC) and National Junior Indoor Rowing Championships (NJIRC) are in line with the ARA national framework. RowPro software

The 3D graphics and the ability to race online or import races from one school to another are the main differences between RowPro and Venue Race. For more information about the software please click here www.digitalrowing.com/products/school/ and you can download a free trial version here www.digitalrowing.com/downloads/.
A list of prices for RowPro can be found here www.concept2shop.co.uk/product/rowpro
Risk assessment for competitions
Concept2 have some example risk assessments for using rowing machines in schools, and for running indoor rowing events. You can download these documents here.
SEN presentation and Adapt2Row seats
There is a presentation illustrating how schools have used Concept2 machines for use by pupils with SEN students.
There is also a video clip demonstrating Calthorpe School’s experience with Indoor Rowing with their SEN students in Birmingham. Follow this link and the clip is halfway through the piece www.concept2.co.uk/company/videogallery.php?video=rowinginschools
We also have specially made seats which aid users who have physical disabilities. There are two types of different seat which we provide:
Adapt 2 Row Complementary Support Seat and Accessories

This seat is not fixed and would generally be used by people who require more support than a standard seat. It allows the user to still use their legs and provides better support for users’ back.
Adapt 2 Row Postural Support Seat and Accessories

This is a larger bucket style seat and would be generally used by people who would transfer from a wheelchair. The seat can be fixed in position by the use of clamps allowing a stable transfer.

Funding for machines
Many schools, partnerships and areas have sought funding outside of their normal budgets. Many have gone for grants from Awards for All, and the Big Lottery Fund as well as other sources. For a full list of funding ideas click here www.concept2.co.uk/schools/funding.php
Prices for machines
When buying machines, many schools have bought a pack which includes the Log cards, cables and teacher training which featured in the training day in addition to the machines. Also, please do note that most schools claim back the price of the VAT, so this can be discounted from the price. For a full list of prices for these packs, please click here www.concept2.co.uk/schools/packages.php
Safe Rowing Technique
In addition to the technique section of our resource pack, we have a webpage and videos demonstrating correct and safe indoor rowing technique, as well as common faults and corrections. To take a look please click here www.concept2.co.uk/training/technique_form.php (there are a series of options of the menu on the left)
We can also supply a DVD of safe rowing technique if required.
